About Us
Whidbey Island Grown was first launched in 2009 with the help of the Northwest Agricultural Business Center (NABC) as a group of farmers and community members seeking to promote local agriculture on the island, and grew to become a marketing and branding organization that promoted producers and local businesses to both locals and tourists. Since its inception, many amazing, dedicated volunteers and community sponsors have contributed their time and funding to the growth of the brand.

In spring 2020 Whidbey Island Grown officially incorporated to Whidbey Island Grown Cooperative (WIGC) with a mission to support a viable agricultural economy, to increase the production and sales of agricultural products on Whidbey Island and to build a resilient, healthy and sustainable community. We are a member-owned, multi-stakeholder cooperative. WIGC is committed to providing services that build the market for easy to access local food, reduce operating costs for small farms, and connect farmers, producers, small businesses, partners, and the community. WIGC launched the Food Hub in response to the COVID19 quarantine in May 2020, creating a way for farmers and producers to sell directly to customers on the island when other sales outlets like restaurants closed down.
