Practices
"I am not certified organic, but I use appropriate organic practices—meaning all of my hive treatments meet organic standards. I don't use high impact pesticides for mite or parasite control. I use formic acid, oxalic acid, or hop guard plant extracts to treat hives. If my hives need extra sugar feed, I use organic cane sugar rather than corn syrup. My goal is to feed the hives only when absolutely necessary and leave them with as much honey as I can. I only take a harvest when there is enough to get them through the winter, which is about 100 lbs per hive." – Anthony Pauly, Jr.
